Hello. I am John Valdez. I am excited that you are taking the time to learn some interesting facts about your vehicles transmission system and that your here at our site to do it. We'll start out this week with some interesting basics.
Did you know?
The industry standard for transmission service is every 30,000 miles under ideal driving conditions (note: There is no such thing as ideal driving conditions in Michigan). That is why this service is recommended industry wide every 20,000 miles.
- Transmission fluid is 60% detergent and 40% lubricants.
- If tires spin on wet, snowy or icy roads, transmission fluid heats over operating temperature at 100 degrees per second, evaporating the lubricants leaving internal parts exposed to more friction that could cause wear and damage.
- If you’re stuck, don’t spin your wheels. If you can’t “rock it out” in a couple of attempts, you’re probably not going to. A tow truck is less expensive than a transmission repair.
- Servicing your transmission is inexpensive insurance against major transmission issues.
